skiing Bulgaria: Snow up your Life!
Bulgaria has a lot to offer: traditional houses and quaint alleys, rustic taverns with excellent cuisine, as well as modern and action-packed ski areas with guaranteed snow. There is something for everyone. A wonderful combination of tradition and modernity await you in Bulgaria.Blagoevgrad:
The Blagoevgrad region is found in Bulgaria's southwestern corner. The imposing Pirin mountains reach up to an altitude of 2,914 m and offer a fantastic view of the surrounding Pirin peaks. With numerous lakes, many waterfalls, hidden caves and peaceful forests, the mountains offer a diverse and unique landscape. Due to this beauty and distinctive features, Pirin is not only the largest and most attractive national park in Bulgaria; rather, it has also been declared a UNESCO world cultural heritage.
Sofia:
Bulgaria's lovely capital is found in a valley basin, surrounded by the Balkan mountain range to the north and the Witosha mountain massif, with it's highest mountian, Cerni Vruch ("black peak", 2,290 m) to the south. The Rila and Pirin mountains connect to the Witosha mountian massif in the south, and the Rhodopen to the south-east. The Rila mountain chain is the highest in Bulgaria and is distinguished by great granite cliffs, ice-age lakes and deep ravines. Also very distinctive are the many rivers, which originate there and then wind through the country, flowing in the Black Sea or the Aegean. There's a reason the Thraken mountains were formerly called Roula ("area abundant with water").
